This hands-on display demonstrates how logic gates (AND, XOR, OR) can be used to perform addition. The user turns switches on or off representing binary numbers, and the logic will calculate the sum of the numbers.
Ordinary diagrams of adding circuits make the user track the state of the gates, but we have used EL wire that glows when a voltage runs through it to show if there is a 0 or a 1 on a particular trace of the circuit.
