Microsoft Excel 2.0

First released on Macintosh in 1985, and released on Windows in 1987, Microsoft Excel was made to replace Microsoft Multiplan and compete with Lotus 1-2-3. While 1-2-3 was solidly the most popular spreadsheet program at the time, it was slow to release on Windows. Microsoft took advantage of this, and by the early 1990s Excel had started to outsell 1-2-3. Afterwards, Microsoft regularly released updates for Excel, about every 2 years. Excel introduced the ability to control the appearance of spreadsheets, as well as auto-fill, extensive graphing capabilities, and intelligent cell recomputation. It is now one of the most popular spreadsheet software available.
