A PC with incredible power for its time, the Tandy 1000 SX was an upgraded version of the earlier Tandy 1000, sporting a new Intel 8088 processor capable of running at 7.16 MHz (able to underclock to 4.77 MHz), 384KB of RAM standard, and two 5 1/4" floppy drives.
This PC was highly sought after for those wanting to play games due to its high power and ability to accept multiple expansion cards, including EGA and VGA adapters. Additionally, a large internal speaker allowed for excellent sound quality.
Tandy 1000 series computers incorporated many proprietary I/O ports, so only Tandy-braded devices could connect to the machine. However, Tandy did sell adapters so that incompatable hardware could properly interface to the machine.
